Hi, I’m J.B. Crow — author, veteran, dog lover, and storyteller.
After proudly serving ten years as a firefighter in the U.S. Air Force — stationed at state side bases and places like Germany, Okinawa, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia — I carried the same sense of duty and discipline into every chapter that followed. Over the years, I’ve pursued a wide range of passions and professions: I ran a successful business, became a certified private pilot, explored the depths as a scuba diver, and found peace behind a paintbrush, capturing serene landscapes using the Bob Ross method. I’ve worn many hats, not for recognition, but because I believe in living fully, learning constantly, and creating wherever I can.
Yet through all of life’s changes, I’ve remained rooted in two guiding truths: a deep respect for our planet — this small, blue world we all share beneath the stars — and an abiding love for the dogs who’ve journeyed alongside me. Whether lying at my feet while I wrote, nudging me outside for a walk when I needed a break, or simply listening with those knowing eyes, they’ve been a source of comfort, strength, and quiet companionship. Their presence has reminded me of what really matters: connection, care, and living each day with purpose.
Much of my inspiration as a writer has come from those closest to my heart. Dazzle, my golden-brown Chihuahua, has been at the center of several stories — his real-life resilience and unwavering spirit brought Dazzle the Brave Little Pup and Dazzle: A Story of Love, Strength, and Second Chances to life. My grandchildren, with their sense of wonder and endless imagination, have also played a special role in shaping books like Kayden Meets a Dinosaur and Curtis and the Big Truck Surprise. These stories aren’t just fiction — they’re reflections of love, family, and the kind of everyday magic that deserves to be remembered.
A Story Born from Love and Second Chances
Dazzle Dog Publishing began with a little golden-brown Chihuahua named Dazzle — a pup who came into my life when he needed saving… and ended up saving me right back. Dazzle’s true story of resilience, healing, and the unbreakable bond we formed became the heart of my first Dazzle book, Dazzle: A Story of Love, Strength, and Second Chances.
That story lit a fire in me — to tell real, meaningful tales for kids and families. Stories that celebrate courage, kindness, friendship, and the everyday magic of life with our furry companions.
